From October 14 to 18, 2024, our team had the pleasure of participating in the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Milan - the world's largest gathering in the space sector.

An intense, exciting, and deeply human week, during which Cosmos for Humanity actively promoted the voice of more ethical, inclusive, and sustainable space governance.

Inspiring encounters and strong commitments

It was an opportunity for fantastic encounters with actors from all walks of life - space agencies, start-ups, researchers, NGOs, European institutions...

Among the highlights:

  • We signed the Statement for a Responsible Space Sector launched by the ESA - an essential initiative to lay shared foundations for sustainability and space responsibility.

  • We had the honor of participating in the final of the Eurisy Prize.

The highlight of the week: Cosmos Caffè

But above all... we had the pleasure of organizing our very first public event in Milan:

Cosmos Caffè - an open, offbeat and accessible meeting place in the heart of the city.

Place: Long Song Books Café, Via Antonio Stoppani, Milan

Date: October 16, 2024 | 5pm–7pm

Over a good cup of coffee, participants were able to discuss space sustainability with prominent guests:

  • Prof. Laurence Monnoyer-Smith - Director of Sustainable Development at CNES

  • Mr. Danilo Rubini - Head of Relations with the EU at the Italian Space Agency

  • Dr. Jean-Claude Worms - Executive Director of COSPAR

  • Mr. Nicolas Frouvelle - Head of NewSpace Development at CS GROUP

The objective? To make spatial conversation accessible, lively and rooted in civic issues.

Each participant was offered a free coffee because space is also about conviviality!

And now?

IAC 2024 marks a symbolic milestone for Cosmos for Humanity: our vision is gaining momentum, our voice is being heard, and more and more stakeholders are realizing that we cannot talk about sustainable space without including citizens.

To all those we met in Milan: thank you

To all those we haven't met yet: see you soon.

And above all, don't forget:

Take a break, take a Cosmos Caffè.
