Turning ideas into impactful projects
Each Cosmos Project explores a new way of addressing the challenges of space and its interactions with our society. Whether through research, innovation, art, awareness-raising, or international cooperation, these initiatives bring together multidisciplinary expertise to imagine, experiment with, and implement meaningful solutions.
Une ambition commune
Les Cosmos Projects rassemblent des initiatives qui explorent de nouvelles réponses aux défis environnementaux, sociétaux et de gouvernance du secteur spatial. Qu'ils portent sur l'économie circulaire, la recherche, l'éducation, l'innovation ou la sensibilisation, tous poursuivent un objectif commun : transformer les connaissances en actions concrètes au service d'un spatial plus responsable.
Ces projets sont développés en collaboration avec un réseau croissant de partenaires académiques, institutionnels, industriels et associatifs partageant cette même ambition.
UpSat Cycle
UpSat Cycle is a European initiative dedicated to the end-of-life management of terrestrial space infrastructure. Conducted in consortium with TerraQuota, the project enabled CNES to carry out an initial study on the challenges of reuse, recycling, and traceability of ground infrastructure in the space sector. This work led to the emergence of three major development areas: Cosmos Drops, which explores the reuse of satellite antennas as passive atmospheric water collectors; Aranrod, a commercial spin-off dedicated to recycling all ground infrastructure in the space sector; and finally, the creation of an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme to sustainably structure the end-of-life management of terrestrial equipment in the space sector. Cosmos Interdisciplinary Lab
Led by Varvara Kutyina, this program brings together experts from law, engineering, social sciences, economics, and public policy to develop innovative approaches to the major challenges facing the space sector. A true space for reflection and cooperation, the laboratory fosters dialogue between disciplines and supports the emergence of new research avenues. We are currently in discussions with several universities, research centers, and institutions to coordinate this work and build an international network.
Create to Inspire
Every two years, in partnership with the Brassart School in Strasbourg, we organize an illustration competition inviting students to design the official poster for Cosmos for Humanity. This initiative celebrates creativity as a means of raising awareness about the major challenges facing the space sector.
For the 2025–2027 edition, Marina Smyk won the competition. The works of the three selected winners will soon be available for purchase in our online shop, allowing the public to acquire these original creations and support the work of Cosmos for Humanity.
